About Us

Mick and Kylie with Dusty Doulen Ben (Dusty's brother) and Bernie	I'm not very good at writing what I want to say but I'm going to give it a go. Our names are Mick & Dale we share our house & lives with Kylie (Dale's daughter). My son Glenn, his wife Amanda & our beautiful Granddaughters Bridie & Jemma live at Banana where Glenn works in the mines. Mick's son Guy, Amanda & our handsome Grandson Blake live in Toowoomba. We live in a small town called Southbrook near Toowoomba (Sunny Queensland's Garden city) Australia. Dale runs a mobile dog washing business and Mick works in maintenance constructing sheds etc. We are only relatively new to this wonderful breed called the Rhodesian Ridgeback and at the moment we can't see ourselves ever wanting to have another breed. Ridgebacks not Dogs!!!!!.
	It gets cold on the Darling Downs (the name of the region in which we live) and the dogs just love cuddling up together in front of the fire. This photo is of Dusty, Bernie and Doulen a few years ago.
When we bought Bernie we decided that since we had a purebred dog we would show it. We went to an RR Club of Qld Show but left Bernie in the car at first, worried that she wouldn't look like the other dogs. We needn't have worried. We were welcomed into the show world and with the help and friendship offered we quickly realised we wanted more and arranged the purchase of a boy of our own (Doulen). Bernie's first litter produced our first homebred Champion (Ch Riginal Gold Dust Woman ET) and Riginal was well and truly on its way. Our second litter (Doulen over Bernie) gave us our next Champion (Ch Riginal Mustangsally ET) and was so successful that we have repeated the mating another two times. Eleven years into our breeding program & Riginal has seventeen champions to its credit including Am/Can Ch Riginal Sundown, 3 Grand Champions and more on the way. Although only in the breed a relatively short time we have been very successful with Best in Shows (All Breeds and Specialties), Runner Up Best in Shows (All Breeds and Specialties), Classes in Show (All Breeds and Specialties), Best in Groups, Runner Up in Groups, Classes in Groups and Royal Best of Breeds. We have also endurance titled the 'family' and are starting into Obedience and Lure Coursing next year, it just keeps getting better and better :-) Our latest exciting adventure has been importing (in partnership with Shane & Kerrie Lambley and Wendy Lam) a lovely young boy from one of Sweden's top breeders, Veronica Thoren of Rex Ventors Kennels, his name is Ruger aka Rex Ventors Rare Edition Imp Swd. With excellent breeding, structure & temperament we are very excited to have him here!
